Doing a cabinet refacing project is about giving your kitchen a facelift at a fraction of the price of doing an entire kitchen remodeling project.
By changing the “face” of your kitchen, you can quickly improve the overall look and feel of your kitchen space without having to do a complete remodel. Oftentimes this can sharply change the view of the home on the whole and is a good consideration for anyone trying to add a little value to their property prior to sale.
“Great company! Very responsive and trustworthy. Has your best interest at heart. Can’t get much better than that!”
After removing the old doors and drawer fronts, we install thin plywood or metal templates over the existing cabinetry frame. These templates are then used as guides for cutting out openings to place new panels (most designs cover three sides, leaving the back untouched). This process allows us to create a new finish that will perfectly match your existing cabinets – even if they are not of the same brand.
The new panels are usually a veneer or laminate over a substrate of plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and are secured to the cabinet frame with adhesive and/or nails. In some cases, the existing cabinet boxes may be reused after being refaced with new surfaces. Finally, the cabinet doors and drawer fronts are reinstalled.
Whether you need to repair broken cabinets or match an existing color layout, we know how to make your kitchen “pop” with new cabinet covers.
Choose from a variety of color and material options to add to the beauty of your kitchen space.
One benefit of choosing paint is that there are an unlimited number of color choices. In addition, you can select particular paint colors that will accentuate your room’s decoration. However, if you decide to stain your cabinets, we need to sand down all surfaces of the current cabinetry.
Cabinet refacing doesn’t get talked about as much as other things we do as a remodeling company but it truly provides some of the best value for the cost associated.
Consider a cabinet refacing endeavor especially if you already love the way that your kitchen looks but want to add something a little special on top.
Cabinet refacing involves replacing the doors and drawer fronts of an existing cabinet with new panels that have been pre-made to fit their existing frames. This can be a cost-effective solution for those who do not want to invest in the expense of complete cabinet replacement but don’t like the look of their current cabinets. Refacing can also be a way to change the color or style of your cabinets without having to paint or stain them.
There is a broad range of styles and colors of cabinet doors and drawer fronts available so that you can create a unique look for your home. You can find the perfect match for your existing décor from the many finishes available. If you are thinking about cabinet refacing, it is important to choose a qualified contractor with experience with this type of work. Remember, cabinet refacing is not a project that should be attempted by someone who is not familiar with carpentry or construction. In other words, it is a job that should be left to professionals, like Remodel Las Vegas.
So, how do you know it’s time for a cabinet refacing? If your cabinets are beginning to warp or lose their finish, it may be time to look for experienced contractors. They could also simply look outdated in comparison to more modern cabinetry styles. If your cabinets are in good condition and working, but you want to update the look of a space in your home, cabinet refacing may be a good option. However, this is only the case if your cabinets are made of plywood-faced particleboard. Newer homes built within the last five years will more than likely have all-plywood cabinetry, and cabinet refacing will not be an option.
If you’re replacing a countertop, it may be an excellent idea to reface your cabinets as well. Replacing a countertop can cost several thousand dollars, much more than refacing them. However, a countertop replacement job also takes less time and usually does not require hiring a general contractor or an electrician for new wiring. Cabinet refacing may be preferable to many homeowners because it doesn’t change the layout or footprint of their kitchen cabinets, making zoning laws easier to meet when selling their home.
If you plan on selling your home in the next two years, it may also be a good idea to reface your cabinets rather than replace them. Several studies have shown that many potential buyers prefer all-new cabinetry when buying a new home. Your cabinets will likely need to be replaced within the next few years anyway, and renovation costs can cut into profits if your goal is to sell the property quickly.
When deciding whether or not to reface your cabinets, you’ll need to weigh all of the pros and cons to finally make the best decision for your home. If you decide to go ahead with cabinet refacing, be sure to research your options and find a qualified contractor who can help to get the job done right.
Not all contractors provide a warranty on their cabinet refacing work. Here at Remodel Las Vegas, we offer a warranty, and the length depends on the materials you choose. That's why it's important to choose experienced and certified contractors to avoid shoddy workmanship.
